HCAA November 2022 Sydney General Meeting

Notice is hereby given to all Members of the HCAA that our November General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 08 November 2022, commencing 6.30pm at the Kirribilli Club Lavender Bay.

6:30pm sharp: General Meeting opens

6.35pm: Presidents welcome and report

7pm: General Meeting closes

7.10pm-7.30pm

Presenter: Russell Kirkwood and Rowan Gregory from Dam Buster

Topic: Non-conforming, non-compliant and not fit-for-purpose - `as built' contemporary style roof drainage exposed!

A presentation on the dire realities of the current state of low pitch metal roof drainage on ever proliferating contemporary style buildings across Australia.  Colloquially known as the "flat roof problem."

Russell Kirkwood is a forensic plumbing investigator who prepares defect and causation reports for litigation purposes.  Russell will explain what he sees at the coalface of the roofing industry and where designers and installers are at serious risk of getting the fundamentals wrong.  Cut through the "resilient buildings" jargon and find out just what being compliant achieves for you, your buildings and your business.

Rowan Gregory, Technical Manager of Dam Buster, will also run through a couple of design examples using the Dam Buster products, and field any technical queries.

7.40pm-8pm: 

Presenter: Jason Bau from AW Geotechnics

Topic: Interpreting a Soil Report and understanding its implications on drainage design

Jason completed his engineering degree at the Queensland University of Technology and has more than 15 years’ experience in the geotechnical field. He is a member of Engineers Australia, HEDRA and is a current sitting committee member on AS3500.

He has presented papers on geotechnical matters at both state and national levels, with a particular interest in helping stakeholders distinguish fact from fiction when it comes to the geotechnical process of building. 

8pm-8.05pm: Rep of the Year 2022

We will be announcing the HCAA Rep of the Year 2022 and would like your vote in who the title should go to!
